San Francisco and Napa Valley
August 2009

Our trip to California was a celebration of our recent engagement (August 11) and a chance to visit
some of Zac's family that were not going to be able to make it out to Maryland for our wedding in October.

We began our trip in San Francisco (Noelle's first visit to the city) and saw about as much as you could see
for two days... we walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, drove down Lombard Street, took a trolley down the Embarcadero, went shopping at Haight-Ashbury, rode on a San Francisco Ferry boat past Alcatraz,
ate at the Boudin Sourdough Bakery, had a chocolate tasting at Ghirardelli Square, and rode two-seater go-carts throughout the city seeing China-town, Golden Gate Park, the Exploratorium, and the Presidio!

Following our adventures in San Fran and visiting with my relatives (Grandparents Mamyrt and Grandbob,
Aunts Kathy, Meri, and Janet, and Cousin Colin) Noelle and I headed up to the
world-famous Napa Valley wine country!  We stayed in beautiful Calistoga (at the north end of the valley)
and had the most fun and relaxing trip that we could imagine.  We visited 10 different wineries while staying
at the Cottage Grove Inn in Calistoga, and eating at some excellent restaurants.  Our favorite winery was
Cakebread Cellars ~ where we had a private tour and tasting.

What an amazing trip.  Napa Valley will always be a special place for us!
